Vehicle involved in hit-and-run found
ISU Police have located the vehicle involved in an apparent hit-and-run accident that occurred on the morning of Dec. 3. That accident resulted in the death of Kelly Jean Laughery, who had been walking along Mortensen Road at the time she was struck.

The funeral service for an ISU student killed in an apparent hit-and-run accident last Saturday will be held in Fontanelle on Wednesday, Dec. 7. The service for Kelly Jean Laughery, 20, will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 424 Scott St. Visitation will be held at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, and earlier that day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Steen Funeral Home, 525 Maple.
Service for Laurie Bratten Dec. 6
Laurie Anne Bratten, 24, died from injuries sustained in an auto accident Dec. 2 on Interstate 80 in eastern Iowa. She was a senior majoring in elementary education. The service for Bratten will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the Willard Street United Methodist Church, 175 N. Willard St., Ottumwa.
Student killed in apparent hit-and-run
ISU student Kelly Jean Laughery, 20, died early Dec. 3 of injuries sustained when she was struck in an apparent hit-and-run accident on Mortensen Road. Police believe the vehicle involved was significantly damaged, especially along the front and right front passenger side. Persons with information related to the investigation are asked to contact ISU Police at (515) 294-4428.
ISU student killed in apparent hit-and-run accident
A 20-year-old Iowa State student is dead this morning (Dec. 3) after being struck by a vehicle on Mortensen Road, near the Towers residence hall complex. The woman's name is being withheld pending notification of family. Anyone who has information that could help identify the vehicle or driver in the accident is asked to call ISU Police at (515) 294-4428.
New risk assessment course among the first
Iowa State is among the first in the nation to offer a course in risk assessment for the biological sciences. The course teaches students how to interpret the risk of adverse incidents in such situations as transgenic contamination, the occurrence of salmonella in food and other agricultural or biological situations.
2006 Veishea theme is 'Celebrate Iowa State'
Students leading Veishea 2006 plans have announced that "Celebrate Iowa State" is the theme for next year's event, set for April 21-23. "Our goal is to include everyone across Iowa in the celebration, and get them excited about what Iowa State has to offer," said Veishea General Co-Chair Jessica Lecy.

The funeral service for an ISU student killed in a pedestrian accident earlier this week will be held in St. Paul, Minn., Saturday, Dec. 3. The service for Robert John Stupka, 21, will begin at 10 a.m. at the Nativity of Our Lord Church, 1900 Stanford Ave. The family has suggested that donations go to Nativity of Our Lord Church, St. Paul, or to the Iowa State biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology department. Stupka died from injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle on campus Nov. 29.
