ISU gets StormReady designation
Iowa State has received StormReady designation from the National Weather Service. Iowa State is the ninth university nationally to receive the designation, which goes to communities with the skills and education to manage weather-related disasters.

Zulu-gospel group performs for youth
Hundreds of students from Des Moines and Pleasant Hill schools attended a matinee performance of Grammy award-winning singers Lady Black Mambazo at Stephens Auditorium Feb. 28.The group, which combines Zulu and gospel music, found fame with an appearance on Paul Simon's Graceland album.

Student bridge-building contest March 5
Student teams from several states will compete in a steel bridge-building competition Saturday, March 5, in Hilton Coliseum. The public is invited to watch builders erect their one-tenth scale bridges. The competition is part of the American Society of Civil Engineers Midwest Regional Student Conference.

Veishea will be back in 2006
Iowa State's traditional spring Veishea celebration will resume in 2006, with changes, President Gregory Geoffroy announced March 23. Geoffroy said he seriously considered eliminating the event, but concluded that students should be given another opportunity to make Veishea a success.
Geoffroy to announce future of Veishea
President Gregory Geoffroy has called a news conference for 10:30 a.m. TODAY (Wednesday, March 23) to announce his decision about the future of Veishea, ISU's traditional spring celebration. Geoffroy suspended Veishea 2005 following a Campustown riot in the early morning hours of April 18, 2004. In the months that followed, a task force and commission were formed to analyze Veishea problems and community relations, and various public meetings were held to gather input. Geoffroy will make his announcement in the Campanile Room, Memorial Union.
Entrepreneur forum March 2
Kevin Kinzler, owner of an Ames construction company, will discuss entrepreneurship and the value of employee training at noon, Wednesday, March 2, in the Pioneer Room, Memorial Union. The event is free and open to the public. Participants may bring their lunches.

Raffle will help fund memorial scholarships

ISU among 'fittest colleges'
Iowa State is one of "America's fittest colleges," according to Muscle and Fitness Magazine. The magazine ranks Iowa State No. 3 nationally in providing students with opportunities to stay fit. It gives Iowa State high marks for the number of recreation facilities, sports clubs, intramural opportunities, and unique fitness classes. The magazine ranked public institutions with NCAA Division I-A sports teams.
