Community memorials and funeral arrangements for Travis "TJ" Good announced

AMES, Iowa -- Faculty, staff and students in ISU's College of Engineering and the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering mourn the loss of civil engineering senior Travis "TJ" Good, who died unexpectedly on April 13. Initial lab tests at the hospital indicate the probable cause of death as bacterial meningitis.

In celebration of Good's life and his influence on many people throughout the university, the college and the department have organized the following memorial events for the Iowa State community, open to all:

  • A memorial is located in the lobby of Town Engineering to honor TJ Good. Members of the ISU community are invited to visit, leave notes and mementos. These memorials will be shared with the Good family.
  • Counseling sessions for students, faculty and staff will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. and 4 to 5 p.m. in Town Engineering on Friday, April 16, Room 322. This is an opportunity to share your thoughts, feelings and memories of TJ. A member of the Student Counseling Services team will be available to offer support for community members.
  • A memorial service has been scheduled for Thursday, April 22, in Alliant Energy - Lee Liu Auditorium, Howe Hall. The service will begin at 7:30 p.m.; a candlelight vigil will follow outside Howe Hall.

Questions about any of these events can be directed to Katy Rice (krice@iastate.edu; 515-294-5935) or Joel Johnson (joelj@iastate.edu; 515-294-1570).
