ISU political scientist tutors international news media on Iowa's presidential process

AMES, Iowa -- Two dozen members of the international news media "went to school" on Iowa's unique presidential campaign and caucus process last Thursday, Aug. 11, courtesy of an Iowa State University political science professor.

Mack Shelley, a University Professor of political science and director of ISU's Public Policy and Administration Program, lectured journalists prior to the Republican presidential debate in Stephens Auditorium during a dinner presentation in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union. Members of the news media from outlets in China, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland attended the session.

Patti Brown (right), director of the Iowa Policy Institute and an Iowa State doctoral student in rhetoric and professional communication, organized the event through the U.S. State Department Washington Foreign Press Center. It was sponsored by the Polk County Republican Party and co-chairman Dave Funk.
