C-SPAN will broadcast one of Steffen Schmidt’s class lectures this month on its American History TV. Crews were on campus in March to record Schmidt’s lecture on the history of political parties in the U.S. It will air at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday, July 20, and again at noon on Sunday, July 21.

Schmidt, University Professor of political science, discusses the rise and fall and changes of political parties in his lecture. He also gives examples – some shocking and other humorous – of campaign tactics from the early 1900s.

C-SPAN’s American History TV features event coverage, lectures and discussions with teachers and historians every weekend on C-SPAN 3.
