Fan tips for annual Cyclone-Hawkeye matchup

Fans at Cyclone football game

The Cyclones and Hawkeyes will renew their intrastate football rivalry for the 63rd time this Saturday.

AMES, Iowa - When the Cyclones and the Hawkeyes renew their intrastate football rivalry for the 63rd time this Saturday at 3:45 p.m., 85,000 fans will be in and around Jack Trice Stadium to cheer them on. And that's a lot of people, cars and congestion in an area covering less than a square mile.

As always, Iowa State University officials encourage fans to have fun, celebrate responsibly and allow plenty of time to reach the stadium in time for tailgating and kickoff.

Park it right here

Donor (Cyclone Club) parking lots will open at 7 a.m.; general public lots will open at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Fans arriving early to park in public lots may be moved to a staging area and placed in a queue to wait until the lots open. Jack Trice Stadium gates open at 1:30 p.m. for suite ticket holders, and at 2 p.m. for general ticket holders.

On Friday night, parking staff will be on hand to direct RVs and buses wishing to park at the College of Veterinary Medicine. Once parked, those vehicles must remain in place until after Saturday’s game. They will not be allowed to move to a different lot on game day.

Public parking prices near the stadium are $40 for RVs and buses, $20 for cars and $5 for motorcycles. Medical accessible parking is located in Lot S2. All public parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans may not save spaces or move their cars to different lots once they are parked.

ISU Parking Division officials also encourage fans to consider the free parking available on central campus. It’s just a short walk to the game.

Iowa State University and the City of Ames ask football fans who park in the streets and neighborhoods surrounding the stadium to be considerate of homeowners. Fans are expected to park legally and obey parking regulations. Trash should not be left behind, and guests should be sensitive to noise levels.
