AMES, Iowa – Parents and students are invited to attend an interactive experience to learn more about ISU 4U Promise and college financial planning.

The first ISU 4U Promise Family Event will run from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, at Moulton Elementary School in Des Moines. Here are a few of the activities and information booths that will be set up throughout the school:

  • Students can record and play back their own news stories recorded in front of a green screen set up by the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication
  • Families can test their weather knowledge and experiment with a “tornado in a bottle” with the ISU American Meteorological Society
  • Students will have the opportunity to create their own business cards with the College of Business
  • Admissions officials from Iowa State and Des Moines Area Community College will also be there to answer questions

ISU 4U Promise is a partnership between King and Moulton elementary schools and Iowa State to help students earn a college education. Students who complete fifth grade at King or Moulton elementary school will be eligible for tuition awards.

“We are excited to host King and Moulton families at this fun, informative event,” said College of Human Sciences Dean and Dean’s Chair Laura Dunn Jolly. “The university’s commitment to the ISU 4U Promise and our partnership with Des Moines Public Schools remains unwavering. We are here to see that these students have the opportunity to attend college.”
