ISU GRADUATE STUDENT RECEIVES AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING SCHOLARSHIP

AMES, Iowa -- Brad Tischendorf, graduate student in materials science and engineering at Iowa State University, was recently presented the Norbert J. Kriedl Award for outstanding scholarship by the Glass & Optical Materials Division of The American Ceramic Society.

The award recognized Tischendorf’s research paper on analytical techniques used to understand the relationship between the structure and properties of glass. The techniques make it possible to design new products for a number of uses in optical, laser and glass/polymer composite applications.

Tischendorf’s research to understand and improve processes for novel glass/polymer composites and their properties was performed under the supervision of Joshua Otaigbe, an Iowa State associate professor of materials science and engineering and an associate professor of chemical engineering.
