The appointment begins July 1. Andre has been with Iowa State since 1974. He is a cognitive educational psychologist. His research focuses on helping students better understand scientific concepts. "I look forward to working with the faculty to continue to improve the department's effectiveness in preparing teachers and conducting research on how we can better educate students," Andre said. "Tom Andre brings important qualities to his new position," said Jackie Blount, associate dean of curriculum and instruction.
