ISU ALUM, SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSMAN TO SPEAK AT REIMAN ENTREPRENEURIAL LECTURE SERIES

AMES, Iowa -- Craig Elliott, an Iowa State University alumnus and former executive with Apple Computer Inc. and entrepreneur will be the next speaker in the fifth annual Reiman Entrepreneurial Speaker Series in April.

Elliott will present "From ISU To IPO," 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 2, Sun Room, Iowa State Memorial Union. Lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m. This event is free and open to the public but pre-registration is required.

While at Iowa State, Elliott will also speak with undergraduate and graduate entrepreneur students in the College of Business and April 1-2.

"We're excited to have the opportunity to have Craig on campus to talk about his personal experiences of taking a company from start-up through the IPO process," said Judi Eyles, associate director of the ISU Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship at Iowa State. "Thanks to the generosity of the Reimans, Elliott will not only speak publicly but will also participate in student classrooms, meet with technology companies, and interact with others associated with entrepreneurship at Iowa State University."

Following graduation with a B.S. in animal science, Elliott spent 10 years with Apple, where he worked a variety of executive positions covering sales and marketing program development, business and product development, and strategic alliances for the company.

An entrepreneur at heart, in 1996 Elliott became employee number three at a start-up company, Packeteer, Cupertino, Calif. During his tenure as president and chief executive officer, Elliott secured more than $20 million in private funding. He recently led the company to its successful initial public offering (IPO), raising an additional $66 million.

Packeteer is a provider of application traffic management systems that enable enterprises, service providers and other organizations to align network resources with business priorities. Elliott continues to serve on the Packeteer's board of directors. The company employs more than 200 people today.

Elliott is a frequent speaker at industry shows and conferences such as Networld + Interop, PC Expo, Technologic Partners and Red Herring Magazine events.

To pre-register, call the ISU Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship at (515) 296-6532. The deadline for registration is noon March 31.

The Reiman Entrepreneurial Lecture Series was established through a gift from Roy and Bobbi Reiman, Greendale, Wis. The lecture series features an entrepreneurial guest speaker who spends days at Iowa State meeting with students, faculty and business leaders. The guest speaker also gives a community lecture on campus.
