ISU President to Visit Charles City Sept. 8

Ames, Iowa -- Iowa State University President Gregory Geoffroy will visit Charles City Monday, Sept. 8 as part of his annual tour of communities throughout the state.

While in Charles City, Geoffroy will meet with students at Charles City High School to discuss the importance of a college education and the opportunities at Iowa State. He will speak to the Rotary Club at noon on the subject, "Iowa State University: Helping Iowans and Iowa Become Their Best."

In addition, he will visit two companies during the afternoon: Winnebago Industries and Cambrex, Charles City, Inc. The visit concludes with a reception for Iowa State alumni who live in Charles City and surrounding communities.

Geoffroy, who became Iowa State president July 1, 2001, conducts the full-day visits to 9-10 Iowa communities each year. Charles City is the first scheduled visit during the 2003-04 academic year.

"These visits are a great benefit to me in meeting people, learning more about their communities and discussing the role of Iowa State in helping advance our state. I'm looking forward to an active day in Charles City," Geoffroy said.
