Reiman Entrepreneur Speaker Series to feature Baked Lays creator on March 5

Amy Sedaris, an actress who played in television's "Strangers with Candy" and in such movies as "Elf" and "Bewitched," will talk about her recent book, "I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence," at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, in the ISU Memorial Union Great Hall.

Mike Reiss, writer and producer of "The Simpsons" for 15 years, will provide details on the lives of the Simpson family during a free, public presentation at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, in the Great Hall of ISU's Memorial Union.

Iowa State researchers help piece together the corn genome's first draft

Patrick Schnable and Srinivas Aluru led Iowa State's contributions to a research project that has written the first draft of the corn genome sequence. Understanding the corn genome could help scientists improve corn plants so they withstand global climate change, add nutritional value to grain, sequester more carbon in the soil and boost yields.

ISU and Northeast Iowa Community College partner on admissions

Iowa State University and Northeast Iowa Community College have joined forces to make it more convenient for Northeast Iowa students who want to earn an associate degree and transfer to ISU to earn their four-year degree. Northeast Iowa President Penelope Wills and ISU President Gregory Geoffroy announced the joint admission program at a news conference today at NICC's Calmar campus.
