Iowa Congressman Leach named Robert Stafford Lecturer; to speak Oct. 13

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa Second Congressional District Representative James Leach is the first Robert Stafford Lecturer on Banking for Iowa State University's College of Business. He will speak on "Current Topics Facing Today's Banking Industry" at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, in the Cardinal Room, Memorial Union. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Congressman Leach is former chairman of the House Committee on Financial Services. That committee oversees the nation's financial industry, including the Federal Reserve, U.S. Treasury and Securities and Exchange Commission. He is co-author of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Services Modernization Act to make U.S. financial firms more competitive internationally and provide consumers more choices and lower fees in financial products.
