AMES, Iowa -- Kenneth Malmberg, assistant professor of psychology at Iowa State University, has received a Young Investigator Award from the American Psychological Association.
Malmberg and Mark Steyvers, an assistant professor of cognitive science at the University of California, Irvine, received the award for their article "The Effect of Normative Context Variability on Recognition Memory." The article appeared in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory and Cognition.
The award is presented to a scholar with fewer than three years of post-Ph.D. work in animal behavior processes; applied, general, human perception and performance; and learning, memory and cognition.
Malmberg came to Iowa State in 2003 from Indiana University, Bloomington, where he was a post-doctoral fellow. His research examines how the human memory works, how aging effects memory, memory retrieval processes and decision-making.
