AMES, Iowa -- Ten Iowa State University students enrolled in entrepreneurial programs have received $1,000 scholarships from the John and Mary Pappajohn Scholarship Fund. This is the seventh year for the awards.
Student winners were selected based on their involvement in Iowa State's entrepreneurship programs, including academic courses, extra-curricular activities and their experience and aspirations in business ownership.
The 2005 winners are: Kurt Avery, junior, veterinary medicine, Canyon Country, Calif.; Tyler Bell, senior, computer science/art and design, Red Oak; Melanie Davis, senior, computer science, Minneapolis, Minn.; Angela Groh, junior, political science/entrepreneurship, Thorton; James Jarvis, senior, electrical and computer engineering, Winona, Minn.; Jessica Kluver, junior, horticulture/apparel merchandising design, Le Mars; Daniel Pruckler, senior, electrical and computer engineering, Cedar Falls; Eric Salter, junior, management and marketing/sociology, Pella; Michael Severin, junior, veterinary medicine/entrepreneurship, Sioux City; and Erica Zeal, senior, education/health and fitness management, Boone.
John Pappajohn, a well-known entrepreneur and successful Des Moines venture capitalist, created the John and Mary Pappajohn Scholarship Fund to reward and encourage entrepreneurial activity among Iowa's college students.
