AMES, Iowa -- In the aftermath of the destruction and suffering that Hurricane Katrina left in its wake, Iowa State students are moving quickly to try to help.
Angela Groh, president of Iowa State's Government of the Student Body, is working with the local Red Cross to organize some much-needed relief to the ravaged area.
On Sept. 1-2, tables will be set up from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Memorial Union, Curtiss Hall, Parks Library, the Maple-Willow-Larch commons area and elsewhere on the ISU campus to accept monetary donations to send to the hurricane-battered region. Volunteers will be at each donation location.
"Right now, after talking with the Red Cross, they said they really need money more than anything," Groh said.
Groh also is organizing a future donation drive that will include other necessities for those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
In addition to money, there are other ways to help.
"If you want to volunteer to be a part of this collection, contact the GSB office or the Student Activities Center in the Union," Groh said.
