Body found in ISU apartment

Iowa State University Police discovered the body of a female in a Frederiksen Court apartment on the ISU campus shortly before 3 p.m. Monday.

Officers keyed into the apartment after receiving a request for a welfare check on the woman, who was visiting from Korea to take part in a short-term academic program. Her body was found hanging in the apartment. No one else was present.

On Tuesday, July 24, ISU Police Chief Jerry Stewart said the body had been positively identified; however, officials are not releasing the name at this time due to further notification of relatives. Autopsy results are pending.

The deceased is not an Iowa State student. The Division of Criminal Investigation and the state crime laboratory are assisting ISU Police with the investigation.
