Missing halfway house resident initially reported near campus; location now unknown

UPDATE (12:30 p.m.)

The follow-up investigation has led law enforcement officials to believe that Josh Daniels no longer is in the immediate Ames area. More updates will be provided on the News Service website as needed.

 

UPDATE (8 a.m.)

ISU Police and the Ames Police Department established a perimeter around Pammel Woods and searched the area, but Daniels, 33, was not there. At this time his location is unknown. Meanwhile, campus vendors, construction site workers, delivery persons and CyRide staff have been alerted and provided with Daniels' description. They have been asked to contact police immediately if they see him. Daniels has a background working in construction, including roofing. More updates will be provided as information is available.

 

ISU Alert 4:24 a.m.

A resident of an Ames halfway house has been reported missing to law enforcement. Joshua Don Daniels was last seen entering the northwest corner of Pammel Woods near the intersection of Hyland and Ontario near the Iowa State University campus. Daniels may be carrying a large branch and has a history of assault. He is a white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 200 pounds with hazel eyes and a shaved head. ISU Police and the Ames Police Department are searching the area. If you see this person, do not approach but call 911. Watch the ISU homepage for updates at www.iastate.edu
