It seems counter intuitive -- play video games to do better in class. But that's what one Iowa State University professor is advocating.

Emily Howell, a professor in education, said playing "Pokemon Go" can help students with writing and research because the game helps children problem-solve.

"They're experiencing the story in all these different modes, reading it, seeing it, walking with the game, and what I like to do in my research is not just say this is for outside of school and this is for in school, but how can we integrate those 2 worlds?" Howell said.

Howell said playing the game can also help those children use different modes of communication, giving them more skills they can use in classes.
