Ross Hall fire

UPDATE 1:35 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22

The Ames Fire Department posted a news release with more information about the fire. Facilities Planning and Management is working with ServiceMaster on cleanup, which will take several days. At this time, all classes scheduled to meet in Ross Hall have been relocated for two weeks. Department chairs will provide updates to instructors who have offices in the building.   

UPDATE 9:15 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22

Fire started in a custodial closet on the first floor of Ross Hall. Iowa State University Police and Ames Fire Department responded around 6:08 a.m.. Fire was out by 6:45 a.m. Police say there was one person inside the building at the time who made it out safely. There is smoke damage throughout the building and the investigation is ongoing.

Ross Hall will be closed on Monday, Feb. 22, due to a fire. Classes scheduled to meet in the academic building will move online or to another location. Instructors will notify students of alternate arrangements. Students please check your email and Canvas for updates. Please avoid the area as police and fire officials investigate and continue to work around Ross Hall.
