ABSTRACTS FOR PLANT SCIENCES SYMPOSIUM DUE APRIL 28

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University will host a symposium, "Biosynthesis of Glucose Polysaccharides," June 29 – July 2, at the Scheman Building.

Faculty and students are invited to submit abstracts for poster or oral sessions. Deadline for abstracts is April 28.

The symposium will bring together leading researchers who are studying the biosynthesis of a variety of glucose polysaccharides from different organisms, including yeast, bacteria and plants.

"The symposium will be a valuable educational opportunity for students and post-doctoral fellows who will be able to interact one on one with world famous scientists," said Paul Scott, USDA collaborator and assistant professor of agronomy. Scott chairs the symposium organizing committee.

Guidelines and registration for abstract submission as well as conference agenda and registration information are available on the Web at http://molebio.iastate.edu/~gfst/phomepg.htm, or by contacting Amani El Obeid, symposium coordinator, at 294-7978.

The symposium is part of a series sponsored by the Plant Sciences Institute and the biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology department.
