IOWA STATE ON 'MOST WIRED' LIST

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University is ranked 20th in Yahoo! Internet Life magazine's latest ranking of the "Most Wired" universities and research schools.

The rankings are based largely on computing services and resources available to undergraduates. The number of public computers on campus, Internet connections in dorm rooms, space for student Web pages, online class registration, and high-tech services for students with disabilities are some of the factors in the rankings.

Pete Siegel, director of academic information technologies, said some of the "wired" amenities available to ISU students include free "house calls" to students' dorm rooms to help them connect to the campus network, generous allotments of space for personal Web pages, well-wired classrooms and Web-based class registration.

The May issue of Yahoo! Internet Life contains the latest rankings of the 50 "most-wired" universities and research schools and the 50 "most-wired" colleges. Wartburg College, Waverly, and Grinnell College, Grinnell were on the latter list, ranked in the 47th and 50th spots.
