| 8-31-00 Contacts: Mary Harms, Business, (515) 294-5800 Kevin Brown, News Service, (515) 294-8986 LACZNIAK NAMED CHAIR OF ISU MANAGEMENT, MARKETING DEPARTMENTS AMES, Iowa – Russell Laczniak, Iowa State University professor of marketing, has been named chair of the departments of marketing and management in the College of Business. Laczniak joined ISU in 1987 teaching courses in consumer behavior, promotion management, marketing research and marketing principles. His research interest is in marketing communications. He is president-elect of the American Academy of Advertising. He earned ISU’s Excellence in Research Award in 2000. He received the Iowa State University Alumni Association Faculty Citation in 1999. He received the Business Impact Award from the College of Business in 1997. College of Business dean Benjamin Allen said Laczniak’s scholarship and leadership of the multi-college 3M Business Lab program made him an excellent choice for the appointment. "I am very pleased that Dr. Laczniak will be providing leadership to the management and marketing programs in the College of Business," said Allen. "He is a first-rate scholar, a well-respected teacher and active in outreach." The combined enrollment in management and marketing is about 400 students. -30- |
