MCELROY NAMED ASSOCIATE DEAN IN ISU COLLEGE OF BUSINESS

AMES, Iowa – James McElroy, professor of management, has been named to a new interim associate dean’s position in Iowa State University’s College of Business. It is a two-year appointment.

The new position was created because of a significant increase in enrollment and the number of new programs implemented by the college during the past five years, said College of Business dean Benjamin Allen. McElroy will be responsible for undergraduate and graduate programs, research and career services functions.

"One of my goals is to increase the communication between college administration and the faculty and staff," said McElroy.

McElroy joined the faculty at Iowa State in 1979. He received the ISU Outstanding Teacher Award in 1984. In 1990, he was named chair of the departments of management, marketing, and transportation and logistics. In 1995, he received the ISU Alumni Association’s Faculty Citation. He also headed the college’s recent re-accreditation efforts. McElroy’s research focuses on employee attitudes.

"Dr. McElroy brings a wealth of administrative and faculty leadership experiences to the position," Allen said.
