ISU FINANCE PROFESSOR AWARDED GANOE FACULTY FELLOWSHIP

AMES, IOWA – Iowa State University’s College of Business has awarded Arnold Cowan, an ISU associate professor of finance, the Ganoe Faculty Fellowship in Finance.

The fellowship was established with a gift from John and Deborah Ganoe, Minneapolis, Minn. John is a 1970 graduate of Iowa State in industrial administration and is currently the executive vice president of corporate development for Wells Fargo. The fellowship was established to aid in the college's recruitment and retention of top finance faculty.

Cowan researches corporate financial management and statistical methods of financial markets research. He created "Eventus," a software package widely used in research on the stock-price reaction to information announcements.

"ISU’s finance department is fortunate to have generous alumni such as John Ganoe," said David Smith, chair of the department of finance. "This fellowship gift is the result of his appreciation for the outstanding education he received at Iowa State. Cowan is an excellent example of our high quality faculty. The Ganoe gift will allow him to develop into an even finer researcher and teacher."

Cowan received his PhD in 1988, his MS in 1985, and his MA in 1980, all from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. He received his BA from Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., in 1977.
