ISU ANNOUNCES CANDIDATES FOR CONTRACTS AND GRANTS OFFICER

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University has announced two candidates for the position of contracts and grants officer.

The candidates are Dennis Paffrath, business administrator for the Center for Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and Mary Watson, academic grants and contracts director at Valdosta State University, Georgia.

The ISU contracts and grants officer monitors approximately $200 million in sponsored funding annually received by the university. The position also reviews and approves funding proposals; negotiates contracts and grants with outside agencies; and supervises award expenditures. The current contracts and grants officer is Richard Hasbrook, who is retiring Jan. 31.

Paffrath and Watson will be on campus in January. Each will meet with the campus community during an open forum, where they will do brief presentations on "Contracts and Grants: Opportunities and Challenges." The open forum schedule is below.

Watson: Tuesday, Jan. 18, 11 a.m.-Noon, Gallery, Memorial Union
Paffrath: Wednesday, Jan. 19, 11 a.m.-Noon, Pioneer Room, Memorial Union.
