BEVIN NAMED INTERIM DIRECTOR OF ISU WOMEN'S CENTER

AMES, Iowa -- Nancy Bevin, Ames, has been named interim director of the Iowa State University Margaret Sloss Women's Center. Her appointment is effective today (July 26).

The center director provides advocacy, referral services and programming for the ISU community, and coordinates women's programs and celebrations. The Office of Student Affairs and the Office of the Provost oversee the women's center.

Bevin received her Ph.D. in education in 1989 from Iowa State. Bevin recently served as a temporary assistant professor in the ISU educational leadership and policies studies program. She also served as a coordinator/facilitator for the Vision 2020 (Kellogg) Project: "Living Well in Place."

The search for a permanent center director will be launched in September.

The former center director Pamela Thomas will leave Iowa State July 28 to take a new position as assistant dean and director of intercultural affairs at Hobart and William Smith College, Geneva, N.Y.
