NORMAN AUGUSTINE TO SPEAK AT IOWA STATE

AMES, Iowa -- Norman Augustine, retired chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corp., will give the T.A. Wilson lecture at 8 p.m., April 4, in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union at Iowa State University.

Augustine, who is currently a professor at Princeton University's School of Engineering and Applied Science, will talk about "How the World Works … An Engineer's Perspective."

Augustine has held numerous high-level posts in government and private industry. He had an 18-year career at Martin Marietta, including the last seven as chairman and CEO. During that time he oversaw the combining of two of the largest U.S. defense contractors and aerospace industry leaders into Lockheed Martin Corp.

Augustine has also been chairman of the American Red Cross, chairman of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and a member of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. He is a 1997 U.S. National Medal of Technology Laureate and has written or co-written three books, including "Augustine's Laws."

The T.A. Wilson Lecture was established in honor of the 1943 Iowa State alum who went on to become the CEO of Boeing Co., Seattle. The lecture is free and open to the public.
