18th ANNUAL IOWA STATE STUDENT FASHION SHOW APRIL 7-8

AMES, Iowa – More than 75 Iowa State University textiles and clothing students will spotlight their own work in "Techno 2000," the 18th annual all-student run Fashion Show and Exhibit April 7-8. The College of Family and Consumer Sciences hosts the show.

The show is in Fisher Theatre, Iowa State Center. The cost for the opening night show is $6 per person. Saturday’s Award Show is $10 per person. Both shows begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster at (515) 233-1888.

The show highlights the original creations of ISU students in the apparel-merchandising program. Also, an exhibit of wearable art and design portfolios will be on display as part of the event.

Jurors for the fashion show are: Mary Obert, director of product development at Delia’s (a junior wear apparel manufacturing company) in New York; Rimma Goldenberg, assistant designer at Delia’s in New York; Mary Steiglitz, professor and chair of art and design for ISU’s College of Design; and Janelle Trott, visiting industry professional from Australia.

Garments, chosen from the evening fashion show, will be informally modeled by students at a fund-raising luncheon on April 8 from noon to 2 p.m. in 117 Mackay Hall. ISU alumni Angie O’Riley and Michelle Hornback will be guests of honor. O’Riley is the fashion stylist for Rosie O’Donnell of the "Rosie O’Donnell Show," in Chicago.

Hornback, an engineer for Johnson Controls, Inc., in Kentucky, works with methods analysis and installation of high-tech marking and cutting equipment. Tickets for the luncheon are $20. Contact J.R. Campbell at
(515) 294-0945 for tickets.

Co-producers for the show are ISU students Kristi Reicks and Kristin Dunmead. J.R. Campbell and Jean Parsons, assistant professors of textiles and clothing, are the faculty co-advisors.
