FCS HOMECOMING OPEN HOUSE TO BE OCT. 21

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University’s College of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) will host a public open house from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 21.

Visitors can tour the newly dedicated Palmer Human Development and Family Studies Building. The building houses the Child Development Laboratory School and the Marriage and Family Therapy and Financial Counseling clinics. The building also features Iowa State's newest public art acquisition, the "One, Now, All" word wall and waterfall, by Seattle artist Norie Sato.

Two other FCS areas will be featured: A newly renovated, state-of-the-art food science lab, and the new Universal Design Learning Lab.

The food science lab features food preparation equipment donated by Maytag Corporation, Newton. The lab is in MacKay Hall.

The design lab is in LeBaron Hall. It is part of the housing program. The lab includes a demonstration "House for all ages," which contains designs for universal use of a home by people of all ages and abilities.

Refreshments will be served. The Palmer Building adjoins the east end of MacKay Hall on Osborn Drive between Catt Hall and Lagomarcino Hall.
