INTERGENERATIONAL EXPERT TO SPEAK AT ISU SEPT. 19

AMES, Iowa -- An expert on intergenerational issues will discuss the similarities and differences of five generations of Americans as part of Iowa State University's "Strengthening families to become the best" celebration year.

James Gambone, principal partner of Points of View Inc., a Minneapolis, Minn., training and consulting firm, will discuss "Together for Tomorrow: Building Community Through Intergenerational Dialogue" at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, in the Sun Room, Memorial Union. The event is free and open to the public.

He is author of books such as "GenX and God -- A GenX Perspective" and "Together for Tomorrow: Building Community Through Intergenerational Dialogue." He also coordinates the Intentional Intergenerational Ministry Project sponsored by the Lutheran Brotherhood.

Gambone will discuss five generational groups -- GIs, Silents, Boomers, 13ers and Millennials. Each generation offers experiences and knowledge necessary to solve most community problems or to identify opportunities, Gambone said.

Gambone's lecture is sponsored by Iowa State's College of Family and Consumer Sciences, ISU Extension, ISU Gerontology Program, Committee on Lectures (funded by the Government of the Student Body), Humanities Iowa, and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
