ISU STUDENTS TO PRESENT "MOSAIC" FASHION SHOW APRIL 6 & 7

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University students will show off their latest designs during "Mosaic," the College of Family and Consumer Sciences annual fashion show. The show will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 6 & 7, at Fisher Theater, Iowa State Center.

Tickets are $8 for opening night on Friday and $10 for Saturday's awards presentations.

Students in the textile and apparel program will display their casual, evening, children's and experimental wear fashions. The show also will feature cutting-edge, digitally printed fashion designs and experimental designs, such as a pink and white paper dress and an hour glass dress.

"The show will present an eclectic variety of designs that should make it an entertaining production while showcasing the talent of student designers," said T.J. Brown, co-publicity director for the show and an Iowa State senior in apparel and design. "The mosaic theme was selected to express the multi-faceted presentation that will feature music and dance, as well as new fashions."

"This show prepares Iowa State students for the real world beyond the campus," said Natalie Bodnar, co-publicity director and an Iowa State senior in apparel and design. "And, it gives the students a spotlight for their creativity."

The department also will host a day-long "Behind the Scenes" event on Friday, April 6, for high school students interested in the apparel merchandising, design and production program. High school students will meet department faculty, tour the College of Family and Consumer Sciences, and see a behind-the-scenes fashion show. More information and an online registration form can be found at www.fcs.iastate.edu/student/forms/cfcsdays.htm.

Faculty co-sponsors for the show are J.R. Campbell and Jean Parsons, both assistant professors of textiles and clothing. For more information on "Mosaic," visit the Web site at www.fcs.iastate.edu/tc/news/show.html.
