CANDIDATES FOR ISU WOMEN'S CENTER ANNOUNCED

AMES, Iowa -- Two candidates for the director of Iowa State University's Margaret Sloss Women's Center have been announced.

The candidates are Penny Rosenthal, director of Iowa State's Off Campus and Adult Student Services Office and interim director of the Women’s Center, and Sharon Jacobson, director of Better Community Coalition at the State University of New York-Brockport and co-director of the SUNY-Brockport Women’s Center. Jacobson also is an adjunct professor of women's studies.

The Women's Center director provides advocacy, referral services and programming for the ISU community, and coordinates women's programs and celebrations. The Office of Student Affairs and the Office of the Provost oversee the women's center.

Each candidate will have a university open forum, a diversity forum, and a student forum. All members of the university and Ames community are invited to attend.

"We are pleased to have two extremely well-qualified candidates selected from a fine pool of applicants," said Faye Whitaker, associate provost for academic affairs. "We hope that the campus community will take the opportunity to meet these individuals and help us chart the future of the Margaret Sloss Women's Center."

The former center director Pamela Thomas left Iowa State for a new position last summer. Nancy Bevin has also served as interim director.
