CATT CENTER LOOKING FOR STRONG-MINDED WOMEN

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University's Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics is now accepting nominations for the 2001 Strong-Minded Women Awards.

The awards are presented annually to Iowa State students, staff, faculty and alumnae and members of the Ames community who are making a difference in the lives of their students, their families, the university, the community and the world.

All current and retired faculty and staff, undergraduate and graduate students, Iowa State alumnae and Ames residents are eligible for the awards. Nominators are asked to describe the woman being nominated; explain where and how she is making a difference, particularly in ways that are innovative, risk-taking and effect change; and attach three letters of support.

Nominations must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2001. The Strong-Minded Women Awards committee will select the 2001 recipients in March. Recipients will be honored at a dinner, awards ceremony and reception on Monday, April 9, at the Scheman Building. The dinner and awards ceremony will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. A dessert reception will follow from 8 to 9 p.m.

The celebration will be co-hosted by a prominent Iowa woman and will include the induction of Iowa State students into the Centers 2001-2002 Catt Associates Program. Nomination forms are available from the Catt Center, 309 Catt Hall; by calling 294-3181; or from the Centers web site, www.public.iastate.edu/~cccatt/Homepage.html
