NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION DIRECTOR TO SPEAK AS PART OF MILLER LECTURE SERIES JAN. 23-24

AMES, Iowa – Mariann Jelinek, director of the Innovation and Organizational Change Program for the National Science Foundation (NSF), Arlington, Va., will speak at Iowa State University as part of the Miller Lecture Series on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 23 24.

Jelinek will speak on "NSF Funding and Research Trends in Innovations, Technologies, and Social and Economical Sciences" at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, in room 171 Durham Hall.

She will speak on the "Impact of Deregulation of the Electrical Utility Industry on Technology, Innovation, and Societal Changes," at 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, in room 205 Carver Hall.

Jelinek is the Richard C. Kraemer Professor of Business Administration for the Graduate School of Business, College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Va. She has been at the NSF since 1999 through the Intergovernmental Personnel Act.

Jelinek will also be meeting with students, faculty and staff during her Iowa State visit and will also tour the Business Analysis Lab.

The Miller Lecture Series is an annual slate of university-wide speakers funded by the Miller Endowment Trust. In 1995, ISU received part of an estate bequeathed by F. Wendell Miller, an Iowa attorney and farm manager. Revenue from the endowment is used to improve undergraduate teaching at ISU and to enhance the intellectual vitality of the campus.
