'STUDY AND WORK IN AUSTRALIA PROGRAM' CARGILL GRANT

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University's Study and Work in Australia/New Zealand Program has received a $20,000 "Cargill International Incentive Grant."

The grant will help pay for transportation costs for 20 Iowa State students who are participating in the program this year. The program is offered by Iowa State's Business/Liberal Arts and Sciences Career Services and the Study Abroad Resource Center.

"The Study and Work Abroad in Australia/New Zealand Program is a perfect fit for how Cargill wants to apply these types of grants," said Gary Hicks, manager of Cargill's Corporate Information Technology Team I/T Project. "Cargill's goal with the Cargill International Incentive Grant is to make a real difference in the education and development of these students. This program achieves that goal."

"Cargill has been very generous to our programs over the last four years. Their contributions have enabled many of the students to afford to participate. They have hired several interns in both London and Sydney," said Steve Kravinsky, director of the Business/LAS Career Services and coordinator of the program.

Since 1997, study and work in Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain programs have sponsored 184 Iowa State students studying abroad. These programs create opportunities for students to gain career-related work experience while exploring the cultural customs and history of Australia and Britain, said Kravinsky.

Cargill officials will present the international incentive grant to Iowa State students at brief ceremony on March 20.
