Admissions of small animals, food animals, horses and wildlife increased more than 5 percent in 2001, compared to 2000. In 2001, 14,683 animals were admitted, up from 13,900 in 2000. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital admitted 10,300 small animals, 1,700 food animals, 2,100 horses and 583 wildlife patients in 2001. Fourth-year veterinary students spend 38 weeks learning in the hospital.
