ISU DESIGN PROFESSORS RECEIVE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE GRANT

AMES, Iowa -- Two Iowa State University professors have received an $80,000 grant from the National Park Service for a project at one of the country's most popular recreation areas.

Heidi Hohmann, assistant professor of landscape architecture, received the grant for a project at Chickasaw National Recreation Area in Sulphur, Okla. She will work on the project with Tim Keller, chair and professor of landscape architecture.

Hohmann and Keller will develop a preservation plan for a 900-acre historic district within the recreation area. The district features natural waterways and mineral springs interspersed with historic structures dating to the 1930s.

Chickasaw National Recreation Area, the first national park in Oklahoma, attracts 3.4 million visitors a year.
