ACADEMIC HONOR SOCIETY TO INDUCT 218 ISU STUDENTS

AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa State University chapter of Phi Kappa Phi will induct 218 students during its spring initiation ceremony on Sunday, March 24.

The initiation ceremony will be at 2 p.m. in Benton Auditorium of the Scheman Building. Thirty-one graduate students, 87 seniors, and 100 juniors will be initiated into the honor society, which recognizes outstanding academic achievement. A reception will follow. The public is welcome to attend.

Gregory Geoffroy, president of Iowa State University, will deliver the keynote address, "Challenging Students to Become Their Best." Evan Pike, student in biochemistry, will speak for the initiates. Harold "Sande" McNabb, president of the Iowa State chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, will present the welcome.

Phi Kappa Phi is a national honor society that recognizes and encourages superior scholarship in all academic disciplines. Founded in 1897, the national honor society has more than 280 member chapters in the United States, Manila and Puerto Rico. Iowa State has been affiliated with the honor society since 1911, when it became the sixth chapter.
