MEDIA ADVISORY: PREVIEW OF REIMAN GARDENS CONSERVATORY AND BUTTERFLY WING OCT. 15

AMES, Iowa -- A media day preview for Reiman Gardens' new 5,000-square-foot conservatory and 2,500-square-foot Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15. Public opening for the new facilities will be Nov. 5.

The conservatory features a waterfall in the midst of tropical plants, including some rare and endangered species. The butterfly wing is the only facility of its type in Iowa and houses hundreds of exotic and native butterflies. The first set of butterflies will be emerging from their chrysalises the week of the media day.

Reiman Gardens' staff and Iowa State University faculty and students will be available to explain the various features of the two facilities and lead tours.

Reiman Gardens is a 14-acre educational display garden created in 1993 with a gift from Iowa State University alumnus Roy Reiman and his wife, Bobbi.

NOTE: Reiman Gardens is located immediately south of Jack Trice Stadium. Take the Elwood Drive exit (exit 146) north off U.S. Highway 30, go approximately one mile to South 16th St., turn left into the stadium complex and left to the gardens. Signs will be posted for parking in lots north of Reiman Gardens' entrance.
