The search committee is headed by College of Agriculture Dean Catherine Woteki. The successful candidate will succeed Norman Cheville, who recently announced that he would retire at the end of the current academic year. The search committee will hold its first meeting this month, and will begin reviewing applications in December. Candidates are likely to visit campus during the spring semester. The new dean is expected to be in place by July 1, 2004. The committee includes faculty, staff, students and alumni of the veterinary medicine college; faculty from other Iowa State colleges; and representatives from state government, the National Animal Disease Center, commodities groups, the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association and the Iowa State University Foundation.
