IOWA STATE TO HOST "AMERICA ROCKS THE VOTE" LOCAL EVENT

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University will be one of the host sites for the first presidential debate to focus on youth issues. The live satellite debate will originate from Boston, Mass.

The CNN broadcast of the debate, "America Rocks the Vote," will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, in the Sun Room, Memorial Union. Dianne Bystrom, director of the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics, will provide opening comments on the role of the debates in the political process.

The event is free and open to the public.

Audience members will be able to participate in the debate electronically via e-mail and take part in discussions following the debate.

The event is sponsored by the Catt Center, University Relations and the ISU Lectures Program (funded by the GSB).
