COLLEGE OF DESIGN TO EXHIBIT WORK
BY RETIRED FACULTY OCT. 8-24


AMES, Iowa -- Past and current work by 25 retired faculty of Iowa State University's College of Design will be on display in "Silver Returns," an exhibition celebrating the 25-year history of the college.

The exhibit will be Oct. 8-24 in Gallery 181, first floor of the College of Design building. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday; and 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free and all exhibitions are open to the public.

Featured work will range from drawings, paintings, sculpture and photography to ceramics, models, mixed media, fiber art and musical instruments.

The participating artists/retired faculty are the following (all are Ames residents unless noted): Philip Allen, William Boon, Barbara Bruene, Robert Findlay (Olympia, Wash.), Robert Harvey, Howard Heemstra, Richard Heggen, Shirley Held, Eino Kainlauri, M.J. Kitzman, Edward Lehner (Durango, Colo.), Robert Lorr, Timothy McIlrath (Okoboji), Donald McKeown, Mary Meixner (Hartland, Wis.), Elizabeth Miller (Des Moines), Nancy Polster (Tucson, Ariz.), Priscilla Sage, Bruce Smith, Jon Sontag, Elsa Sreenivasam (St. Paul, Minn.), Vernon Stone, Gretchen Weber, Edmund Young and William Zimmerman.

In conjunction with the exhibition, the college will host "Silver Reflections," an opportunity to reminisce with retired design faculty, from 3 to 4 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17. An opening reception for the exhibition will follow from 4 to 5 p.m. Both events will be in Gallery 181. The public is invited to attend.

The exhibit is part of the College of Design's Silver Anniversary celebration, which will feature notable speakers and special exhibitions throughout the year. Information on upcoming events is available at www.design.iastate.edu, then click on 25th Anniversary.
