COL. ARTESE NAMED CHAIR OF IOWA STATE AIR FORCE ROTC UNIT

AMES, Iowa -- Col. Michael Artese has been named commander of the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Detachment 250 at Iowa State University.

Artese has dual responsibilities as ROTC commander and chair of the department of Air Force aerospace studies. He holds the rank of full professor.

Artese holds degrees from Troy State University, Alabama. He also has attended the Air Command and Staff College and the Air War College, both at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, and the Armed Forces Staff College, Norfolk, Vir.

Artese served as a fighter navigator, air liaison officer, and as deputy commander of the 3rd Mission Support Group, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska.

He is a senior navigator with more than 1,500 hours in the F-111 and AT-38 combat aircraft.

Iowa State's department of Air Force aerospace studies and Air Force ROTC unit provide leadership development that prepares college students for service as officers in the U.S. Air Force. There are approximately 160 cadets in the Iowa State program.
