FUNDING HELPS CENTER EDUCATE ENTREPRENEURS

AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State's Center for Advanced Technology Development (CATD) recently received $10,000 from the U.S. West Foundation through the Regional Council of the Small Business Innovation Research program. CATD will use the funds to hold proposal writing workshops and seminars for prospective entrepreneurs and small companies, and make expert reviews of proposals available.

"These programs can play a major role in helping a small company nurture a project from the concept stage to the marketplace," said Robert Harris, associate director of CATD.

Although a number of states receive awards for workshops, Harris said Iowa is the only state making expert reviews available with a portion of the money. CATD will work with Small Business Development Centers to begin workshops and seminars soon. For more information about the workshops, contact Robert Harris at (515) 294-5808.

The Center for Advanced Technology Development is a member of the Institute for Physical Research and Technology, a federation of research, technology development and technology transfer entities at Iowa State University.
