AFFIRMATIVE ACTION DEBATE AT ISU SEPT. 18

AMES, Iowa -- A debate on affirmative action between Michael Dyson and Dinesh D'Souza will be held at Iowa State University Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m., in the Memorial Union Sun Room.

Dyson is director of the Institute of African American Research at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He also is the author of "Reflecting Black: African American Cultural Criticism" and "From God to Gangsta' Rap: Notes on Black Culture."

D'Souza was a White House domestic policy analyst during the Reagan administration. He is the author of "The End of Racism" and "Illiberal Education: The Politics of Race and Sex on Campus."

The debate is sponsored by the Diversity Steering Committee, the Multicultural Action Group, the Committee on Lectures and the Government of the Student Body.
