GIFT FROM PIONEER TO ESTABLISH SCHOLARSHIP
IN ISU BUSINESS COLLEGE

AMES, Iowa -- A $200,000 gift from Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc., Johnston, Iowa, will establish a National Achievement Scholarship at Iowa State University's College of Business. The gift was presented by Pioneer President and CEO Chuck Johnson, a 1965 graduate of Iowa State.

The National Achievement Scholarship will be awarded to a minority student who has successfully met the requirements of the National Merit Scholarship program. The College of Business will name its first National Achievement Scholar in the fall of 1997.

"This is an exciting opportunity to bring an outstanding young scholar into our college," said Ben Allen, dean of the College of Business. "We are grateful to Pioneer for making this scholarship possible."

The gift was part of ISU's $26 million President's Scholarship Campaign, which to date, has reached $24 million of its goal.
