ISU CHILD CARE CENTER GROUNDBREAKING SET FOR SEPT. 16

AMES, Iowa -- Children of Iowa State University students and staff will help ISU President Martin Jischke break ground for a new child care center Monday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m. The center will be located in the Walnut Woods area near the ISU Veterinary Medicine complex, southeast of central campus.

The center will be approximately 8,000 square feet and is designed to accommodate 84 children ranging from infants to school-age. It will be designed with residential character, featuring window seats, window lofts and porches. The center will also have an outdoor playspace which incorporates its natural setting.

"This new center will be a great benefit to Iowa State University students, faculty and staff with small children," said Sonia Johnson, ISU child care consultant.
Cost of the project will be approximately $1.46 million.
