FINALISTS NAMED FOR UNIVERSITY REGISTRAR AT ISU

AMES, Iowa-- Three finalists have been named for the position of university registrar at Iowa State University.

The finalists are: Kathleen Jones, associate registrar at ISU; Ray Pospisil, registrar at the University of South Dakota, Vermillion; and Wade Robinson, director of academic records and registration at the University of Nebraska, Omaha.

The responsibilities of the Office of the Registrar are to register students in their courses, maintain records for current and former students, evaluate the graduation status of students, coordinate commencement ceremonies, and transmit information about student enrollment and academic records to appropriate offices and persons.

Each candidate will visit ISU in September, during which they will meet with students, faculty and staff, and administrators. Each candidate's visit will include an open forum. The schedule is as follows:

  • Robinson: Thursday, Sept. 5, 2:45 p.m., Oak Room, Memorial Union

  • Jones: Monday, Sept. 9, 2:45 p.m., Gold Room, Memorial Union

  • Pospisil: Thursday, Sept. 12, 3:45 p.m., Gold Room, Memorial Union

    Robinson has been director of academic records and registration at the University of Nebraska, Omaha, since 1994. He was administrative assistant to the registrar from 1989 to 1993 and assistant registrar from 1993 to 1994 at the University of Nebraska, Kearney. Robinson received a B.S. in fitness and leisure management from the University of Nebraska, Kearney, and an M.A.E. in educational administration and a Ph.D in administration, curriculum and instruction from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.

    Jones has been associate registrar for systems and records at ISU since 1995. Among the positions she held since joining ISU's Office of the Registrar in 1972 are assistant registrar, from 1976 to 1987, and associate registrar for scheduling, from 1987 to 1995.

    Jones received her B.S. in mathematics from Iowa State in 1972. She also received an M.S. in professional studies in education, specializing in higher education, from ISU in 1978 and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the same area.

    Prior to his current position at the University of South Dakota, Pospisil was the associate director for registration at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Va., from 1984 to 1986 and assistant to the registrar at Indiana University, Bloomington, from 1980 to 1983. He received a B.A. in history from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, in 1974, and an M.A. in history in 1975 and a Ph.D. in East European history in 1983 from Indiana University, Bloomington.
