HONORARY PROFESSORSHIP TO ISU'S JOHNSON

AMES, Iowa -- Stanley Johnson, Iowa State University's vice provost for extension, has been named an honorary professor at the Center of Rural Development Research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The Chinese center honored Johnson for his assistance to international universities that are helping restructure their nations' agricultural economies. The Chinese Academy of Sciences is the largest scientific institution in China.

Johnson, C.F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture, is the former director of ISU's Center for Agricultural and Rural Development. He also is executive director of the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute and chair of the board of the Midwest Agribusiness Trade Research and Information Center at ISU.

Johnson is a member of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences in both Russia and Ukraine. He also is an honorary professor of the Ukrainian State Agricultural University, and he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Debrecen Agricultural University in Hungary.
